As your 51st
Queen, I would like to take this opportunity to share my 2008
Lakefair experience.
Firstly, I would like to
thank the Capitalarians for all the time and energy they put
towards making Lakefair possible each year. In particular, I
would like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Bob and Serry Barnes whose
commitment to our community is unmatched. Also a special thanks
to Jan Meyers, the 2008 1st Vice President.
We live in an awesome
community and are lucky to have this wonderful festival that
takes place the third week of every July. Lakefair is a
fantastic event that brings families and friends together.
There are activities for all interests. The Capitalarians have
worked hard to keep this festival family oriented and have
succeeded year after year.
Being part of the Lakefair
Scholarship Program has helped shape and grow my future plans.
Lakefair provided an opportunity for me to meet many fascinating
people in this community through the speaking engagements and
volunteer activities in Olympia, Lacey and Tumwater.
I would like to thank the
Princesses on the 2008 court, Kimberly Vivian, Kelsey Rice,
Barbara Soiza and Ashley Andrews. All of whom you will be
hearing about in the future for their accomplishments. I would
also like to extend my gratitude to the 2007 court whose
assistance leading up to Lakefair was invaluable. This
experience has left me with many unforgettable memories and
friendships.
In closing, I would like to
offer my gratitude to all the volunteers who make Lakefair
possible and to my family and friends who have supported me
throughout this experience.
Yours truly,
Kim Forgaard
